Police are investigating an armed robbery at a supermarket in Newcastle West.
A man armed with a syringe entered the Coles supermarket at Marketown at about 1.30am today and threatened staff before making off with several items.
No-one was injured in the robbery and police are reviewing CCTV footage in a bid to identify the culprit.
