Plans For Massive Hunter Park Precinct Revealed

 BY IAN CROUCH

Government plans for the long-awaited Hunter Park project around Broadmeadow have been officially released.

The housing, sporting and entertainment precinct will include up to 20,000 new homes, an indoor stadium, aquatic centre, a light rail stop at Nine Ways and parkland stretching across about 63 hectares from Hamilton North to Broadmeadow.

The Planning Department says the strategy will guide public and private development across the precinct and surrounding suburbs for the next 30 years, in what's being described as one of the largest urban planning exercises in Newcastle's history.

The draft strategy is expected to go on public exhibition next month.
