Daughter Accused Of Murdering Her Father At Tenambit

 A woman has been charged with murdering her father at Tenambit near Maitland.

23-year-old Maddison Hickson is accused of twice stabbing 51-year-old Michael John Carroll at a Ronald Street home on Saturday night.

Detective Acting Inspector Ranald Urquhart says the man was treated at the scene but couldn't be saved.

"A 51-year-old man who was suffering from two stab wounds to his upper torso and despite attention provided and assistance provided, he died at the scene," he said.

Police say the woman initially fled but returned to the house a short time later and was charged with murder on Sunday morning.

She's been formally refused bail to face Maitland Local Court on Wednesday.

Police say the alleged victim is known to them.
