4th Person Charged Over Violent Break-In At Cardiff

Lake Macquarie police have arrested a fourth person in connection with a violent break-in at Cardiff earlier this year.

Police say a 48-year-old man arranged to meet a woman he'd met online at his home on Government Road in the early hours of Sunday January 12.

Shortly after she arrived, two men allegedly forced their way through the front door of the home armed with an ornamental sword and a metal pipe, and assaulted the man.

Police say the two men and the woman stole $650 before making their getaway in a vehicle driven be a third man.

The resident was taken to the John Hunter Hospital with head injuries, including a fractured skull and a severe laceration.

A 25-year-old woman was arrested the same day and is still before the courts charged with special aggravated break and enter, commit serious indictable offence - inflict grievous bodily harm, and drug possession.

A 34-year-old man was arrested at Rankin Park on 19 February, 2020 and a 19-year-old man was arrested at Wangi Wangi on 27 March 2020. They are due to front Belmont and Toronto Local Court on 15 April and 3 April respectively.

A third man, aged 23, was arrested yesterday (Wednesday 1 April) at Windale and is due to face Newcastle Local Court today.

All three have been refused bail and charged with special aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence - inflict grievous bodily harm.
