A man has managed to cheat death after the car he was driving lost a wheel and crashed off the M1 Pacific Motorway at Wyee.
The 46-year-old was driving south when one of the front wheels of his silver Ford Falcon came off yesterday morning, sending the car careering across the road where it slammed into trees.
The man had to be cut free from wreckage - he was airlifted to the John Hunter Hospital is a stable condition with shoulder, arm and leg injuries.
