Two Teens Charged Over Belmont Shopping Centre Incident

Police have arrested two teenagers over a violent stealing incident at a Lake Macquarie supermarket.

Officers were called to the Woolworths store on the Pacific Highway at Belmont just before 2.00pm  yesterday.

However the pair fled .

Police arrested an 18-year-old, but he allegedly became violent and escaped with one handcuff still attached.

He was re-arrested a short time later, while a 16-year-old was also arrested.

The 18-year-old has been charged with several offences including resisting an officer, escaping lawful custody and larceny.

He's been refused bail to face Belmont Local Court today.

The 16-year-old has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company, resist officer and larceny.

He's also been refused bail to face the Children's Court today.
