Hunter-based community housing provider, Compass Housing, has won a major tender to manage over 300 social and affordable housing properties in Sydney.
Most of the 335 properties, built by not-for-profit developer BlueCHP, will be based in the state capital's Western suburbs.
Corporate Affairs Manager Martin Kennedy said there will be a range of properties included, bring Compass Housing's portfolio up to approximately 4800 buildings.
He believes it follows on from the success of the company's Newcastle operations.
"Our vision is that all people have access to safe and affordable housing," Mr Kennedy said, "and we really do mean all people.
"There's a tremendous need for social and affordable housing right across NSW, and we all know about Sydney's affordability issues, so we felt like it's a good time for us to expand into that market...and it's also a really strong vote of confidence in Compass, which is a proudly Hunter-based organisation," he concluded.
