A man is due to front court today accused of using counterfeit money in the Port Stephens area.
Small business owners at Lemon Tree Passage and Salamander Bay notified police after receiving fake bank notes for purchases.
Following investigations, a 41-year-old man turned himself in at Nelson Bay Police Station on Monday morning.
He's been charged with dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception and breach of bail and has been remanded in custody to appear in Raymond Terrace Local Court today.
