Queensland police have today arrested a man who has previously ripped off dozens of Hunter residents while trading under a fake building licence.
Matthew Rixon was tracked down in the Gold Coast after a tip-off from a member of the public.
He's been refused bail and will be extradited to Newcastle where an outstanding warrant will be executed to see him face the Supreme Court.
Minister for Better Regulation Matt Kean has been warning Hunter residents to avoid Rixon for some time, and believes the "dodgy builder" got what he deserves.
"Matthew Rixon has been operating under a number of fake names and aliases, ripping off unsuspecting victims by pretending he was qualified to undertake building work," Minister Kean said.
"He'd take big up-front deposits and never return to do the work; he'd just disappear."
