Williamtown Residents Fuming After PFAS Information Session

BY IAN CROUCH

Williamtown residents have again been left angry and confused after an information session with Defence over the PFAS contamination crisis.

The department has issued a new map of the so-called Red Zone with four colour-coded risk zones, which appears to be quite different from the one issued by the NSW Environment Protection Authority just two weeks ago.

The EPA's Adam Gilligan told the 250 residents at the meeting they should rely on their map, not the one issued by Defence, which he said is based purely on science and has produced a different result.

Port Stephens MP, Kate Washington and Federal Paterson MP, Meryl Swanson says it only highlights the dysfunction between state and federal authorities over the handling of the PFAS contamination issue.
