Woman Winched off Cruise Ship after Suffering Stroke

UPDATE:

The Rescue Helicopter has winched a 40-year-old woman off the Carnival Spirit Cruise Ship after she suffered a stroke.

The chopper was called to rendezvous with the ship 50 nautical miles off Port Macquarie at about 10:30 this morning.

The crew stabilised the passenger before flying her to the John Hunter Hospital for further treatment.

EARLIER:

The Hunter's Westpac Rescue Helicopter has transported a woman to the John Hunter Hospital after she had a fall in her home near Coffs Harbour.

The 65-year-old woman was initially taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital last night after she hit her head when she fell at her home.

She suffered head and back injuries and had to be stabilised by a specialist team from the John Hunter before arriving in Newcastle at 8:30 this morning.

Meanwhile

The helicopter is now headed out to a cruise ship 50 nautical miles off Port Macquaire following reports a passenger is seriously ill.
