Newcastle East End redevelopment plans now open to public

BY BROOKE HEINZ

Proposed redevelopment plans for Newcastle's East End are open for inspection over the next two days.

Developer Iris Capital has set up an information centre in the Hunter Street Mall, where locals can discuss plans for the four-stage development.

Plans for the East End redevelopment include the construction of retail space, over 200 residential dwellings, basement car parking, public art, and the repurposing of the former David Jones building.

There are also plans for a laneway connecting Wolfe Street and Perkins Street, leading to an urban plaza.

The information centre will be open until 7:30pm tonight, and from 8:30am to 1:30pm on Friday.
