BY IAN CROUCH

The Newcastle woman who was punched in the face during a road rage incident at Lake Munmorah says the man who attacked her had been tail-gating the car she was in.

Bianca Lee Sams has admitted to throwing a packet of nails and a chisel at the man's car before he attacked her.

She was travelling with a friend and a young child

The 21-year old has told Channel Nine's A Current Affair they feared for their safety.

"We had to swerve off into near the guard rail and whatnot and we had to get away from him - that was it. He kept following us - kept trying to push us," she said.
