Police Call For Witness after Late Night Stabbing in Mayfield

Police are looking for anyone with information after a man was stabbed at Mayfield late last night.

Police say at about 11:30pm, a group of people were arguing at a unit complex n Hanbury Street before a fight broke out which ended in a 15-year-old man allegedly receiving stab wounds to his left leg and hand.

The man was taken to the John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition, while police established a crime scene.

A 16-year-old was spoken to at the scene and arrested but later released from Newcastle Police Station pending further inquiries.

UPDATE Police on the hunt for knife-wielding man in Mayfield

Police are chasing a man who threatened a 34-year-old Mayfield man in the carpark of the Mayfield Ex-services club last night.

At about 1am police say the victim was approached by the man in Hanbury Street who was wielding a knife and demanded he hand over cash and his phone.

The pair allegedly got into a physical confrontation before the victim ran away and called police.

Newcastle detectives are reviewing CCTV footage from the area as investigations continue.

Man Confronted By Knife-Wielding Bandit At Mayfield

A man has been threatened by a knife-wielding man outside a Mayfield club.

Police say the victim was confronted in the car park of the Mayfield Ex-Services Club in Hanbury Street just before 1.30 on Wednesday morning and was ordered to hand over cash and his mobile phone.

However, he managed to escape unharmed and fled to a nearby home where he called police.

Shots Fired in Mayfield

Investigations are being conducted into an incident of shots being fired in Mayfield.

Police were called to Hanbury Street around 1:45pm yesterday where they set up a crime scene.

A man and woman were at the location but were not injured during the incident.

Newcastle City Local Area Command would like to speak to a 20 year old man who is believed to have been at the scene at the time.
