Three Men Face Court Over Cannabis Haul at Adamstown

Police have charged three men after they found a large amount of cannabis during a routine traffic stop at Adamstown.

Officers pulled over a car on Glebe Road at about 6.00pm on Monday and breath tested the driver, who returned a negative result.

However, a search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered 18 kilograms of cannabis.

Police arrested three men - one aged 33 and the others aged 22, and took them to Newcastle Police Station where they were charged with possess prohibited drug (deemed supply) and were refused bail to face Newcastle Local Court today.

Newcastle Teen To Face Court Accused of Threatening Service Station Staff with a Gun

A Newcastle teenager will front a Children's Court today after threatening staff at an Adamstown service station.

At about 11:10am on Saturday (9th September) the 17-year-old went into a service station on Glebe Road and became involved in an altercation with a staff member, throwing a cup of coffee at the employee.

The situation escalated quickly when the teenager retrieved a pistol from his car and allegedly threatened staff members who retreated inside the store.

After kicking the front doors of the store the teenager, and two of his friends, left in his car.

At about 11:30 last night, the teenager attended Newcastle Police Station with the remains of the replica firearm which had been smashed.

He was arrested and later charged with multiple offences including being armed with intent to commit indictable offence, common assault, possess unauthorised firearm and traffic offences.

The teen was refused bail.

Man Injured In Crash At Adamstown

A rear seat passenger has been taken to hospital after a single vehicle crash at Adamstown.

A Toyota Camry sedan with 4 people on board lost control on the corner Glebe Road and King Street at about 3.30 this morning and slammed into the front brick fence of a house.

The 22-year-old male passenger was trapped and had to be cut free by Fire and Rescue officers - he's suffered serious head injuries,

The other occupants escaped serious injury.

Glebe Road is blocked and police say there are going to be significant traffic issues in the area until about 9.00am because the wreckage still needs to be cleared and crash investigators are still conducting inquiries at the scene.
