Charges have now been laid over a crash at Adamstown which left a backseat passenger seriously injured.
The driver, a 45-year-old man from Cooranbong, is accused of being drunk behind the wheel when he lost control on Glebe Road and slammed into a brick wall on October 5.
He's been charged with aggravated dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm and is due to front Newcastle Local Court on January 19.

Man Injured In Crash At Adamstown

A rear seat passenger has been taken to hospital after a single vehicle crash at Adamstown.
A Toyota Camry sedan with 4 people on board lost control on the corner Glebe Road and King Street at about 3.30 this morning and slammed into the front brick fence of a house.
The 22-year-old male passenger was trapped and had to be cut free by Fire and Rescue officers - he's suffered serious head injuries,
The other occupants escaped serious injury.
Glebe Road is blocked and police say there are going to be significant traffic issues in the area until about 9.00am because the wreckage still needs to be cleared and crash investigators are still conducting inquiries at the scene.
