Truck Crash Closes Northbound Lanes Of The Pacific Highway At Karuah

The Pacific Highway has been reopened following a truck crash at Karuah.

Police say an Australia Post truck crashed and rolled about 20km north of Heatherbrae near Gates Trail at about 6.45pm on Thursday 7 May 2026.

Paramedics treated the driver, a 49-year old year old man before he was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The northbound lanes of the highway were closed for several hours with a contra-flow in place.

Police are asking for anyone with information about the crash, including dashcam footage, to contact Crime Stoppers.

 

Truck Crash And Fire Closes Southbound Lanes Of M1 At Morisset

The southbound lanes of the M1 Pacific Motorway are closed at Morisset following a truck crash and fire.

Around 11.30pm on Sunday 9 November, 2025 it's understood a semi-trailer loaded with onions crashed into guard rail and caught on fire.

Newcastle Fire Command says the driver was shaken but otherwise unharmed.

Six fire trucks and a duty commander from Newcastle are still at the scene.

An excavator has been brought in to help pull the load apart to allow crews to fully extinguish the blaze.

Crews are currently cleaning up the site and it's hoped the freeway will re-open shortly

In the meantime, motorists can use the Mandalong Road southbound exit to pass the crash scene and rejoin the freeway.
 

 

 

UPDATE! Truck Crash Closes New England Highway At Singleton

A man in his 30's has been taken to the John Hunter Hospital with facial injuries and suspected leg and rib injuries following a truck crash at Singleton.

A truck carrying frozen chickens and an empty truck collided at the intersection of  Maitland Road and Kennedy Street just before 4.00am today (Tuesday 2 September 2025). It's understood one of the trucks crashed into the rear of another which was parked by the road.

Maitland Road re-opened to traffic just before 7.30am.

The New England Highway has been closed at Singleton following a truck crash.

Newcastle Fire Command says two trucks collided at the intersection of Maitland Road and Kennedy Street just before 4.00am today (Tues 2 September, 2025).

It's understood one of the drivers has been injured but all occupants of the trucks are out of the vehicles.

Maitland Road has been closed to traffic with diversions in place while crews work to clear a diesel spill. 

Crews have requested a Hazmat unit to assist with the clean-up, with one of the trucks carrying approximately 700 litres of fuel. 

 

Overnight Salvage Operation Wraps Up After Truck Crash At Whittingham

The Golden Highway has re-opened after an overnight salvage operation to clear a truck crash at Whittingham.

A B-Double tanker loaded with almost 24,000 litres of ammonium solution left the road just after 2.00pm on Monday and crashed into a power pole, bringing down power lines.

Newcastle Fire Command says the truck stayed upright, but the trailer ended up on it's side.

Several fire crews and a Hazmat unit were called to the scene.

The driver escaped uninjured.

A recovery vehicle was called in from Port Kembla and work to decant the tanker and tow it away wrapped up just before 5.00am on Tuesday.

 

BREAKING! Thousand Of Litres Of Fuel Spilt In Truck Crash At 12 Mile Creek

A major Hazmat incident is unfolding at 12 Mile Creek north of Raymond Terrace where two trucks have collided.

Newcastle Fire Command says a truck and fuel tanker collided in the northbound lanes of the Pacific Highway just south of the Bucketts Way at about 7.00am on Monday.

It's understood the drivers have been treated by paramedics and one has been taken to hospital.

Fire & Rescue says the tanker has spilled 26,000 litres of fuel on the road.

Northbound traffic on the highway is back for 5 kilometres and police are setting up a contra flow.

Several fire and Hazmat vehicles are at the scene, with the incident expected to be protracted for some hours.

Drivers Escape Serious Truck Crash At Wooton

Traffic is back to normal on the Pacific Highway after a serious truck overnight at Wooton, sooth of Coolongolook.

Newcastle Fire Command says a southbound B-Double loaded with electrical goods crossed into the northbound lanes at about 11 o'clock, tipped onto its side and caught fire.

A second northbound truck carrying a car collided with the semi-trailer.

Police say both drivers walked away from the crash unharmed.

Hazmat crews from Taree and Newcastle were called in to mop up a large diesel spill.

There are delays for traffic in both directions while the crash scene is cleared.

Update! Fiery Truck Crash Closes M1 Northbound At Morisset

The northbound lanes of the M1 Pacific Motorway have been re-opened after a major crash and fire involving two trucks at Morisset last night.

A semi-trailer collided with a stationary road works vehicle at about 10.15pm pushing it into the bush.

Police say the semi-trailer was destroyed by fire.

The 30-driver was taken to the John Hunter Hospital for mandatory testing while the 55-year-old male driver of the second truck wasn't injured..

Fire crews were called back to a re-ignition just after 5 o'clock

The northbound lanes remained closed until just before 6.30 this morning.

A crane and heavy tow will be brought in to remove the trucks.

EARLIER:

There are major delays for northbound traffic on the M1 at Morisset after a fiery crash involving two trucks overnight.

The crash happened just south of the Mandalong Road exit at about 10.15pm on Wednesday, with one of the trucks running off the road into bush and catching fire.

It's believed a man in his 30's was taken to the John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition with lacerations and minor injuries.

Fire crews took about 2 two hours to extinguish the blaze but were called back just after 5am when the truck re-ignited.

The fire was quickly put out.

A crane and heavy tow vehicle will be brought in at daybreak to carry out a salvage operation.

BREAKING! Pacific Highway To Close After Truck Crash At Karuah

The Transport Management Centre is making preparations to remove a truck which has crashed down an embankment at Karuah.

Newcastle Fire Command says a B-Double loaded with mixed goods crashed off the southbound lanes of Pacific Highway approaching the Karuah Bridge just after 3 o'clock on Tuesday morning.

The driver managed to escape unharmed, however the truck is almost vertical down the embankment and will require a 100 tonne crane to remove it.

It's expected the southbound lanes of the highway will be closed for several hours later on Tuesday morning so the salvage operation can get under way, with a contra flow to be set up.

Driver Taken To Hospital After Truck Crash Near Murrurundi

A truck driver has been taken to hospital after a crash in the Upper Hunter overnight.

He was behind the wheel of a southbound B-Double on the New England Highway at Murulla south of Murrurundi just before midnight when he lost control and the truck jackknifed.

Newcastle Fire Command says he managed to free himself and was treated by paramedics for minor injuries before being taken to Tamworth Hospital for observation.

A Hazmat unit decanted fuel from the rig and a heavy tow truck has been brought in to remove the vehicle.

A contra flow is in operation while the crash scene is cleared.  

BREAKING! Truck Loaded With Arnotts Biscuits Overturns At 12 Mile Creek

A semi-trailer loaded with 55 tonnes of Arnotts biscuits has overturned at 12 Mile Creek north of Raymond Terrace.

Emergency services were called to the southbound lanes of the Pacific Highway approaching the Bucketts Way just after 3.00am on Wednesday to reports a Linfox truck and trailer was on it's side and the driver trapped.

The man in his 20's was released and taken by road ambulance to the John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition suffering a knee injury.

The Hazmat unit from Newcastle pumped about 250 litres of diesel from a nearby causeway which had leaked from the ruptured fuel tank.

Newcastle Fire Command says efforts to salvage the truck and its contents will get under way later on Wednesday morning.

Truck Driver Injured On Newcastle Inner City Bypass Worksite

A man working on the Newcastle Inner City Bypass extension has been injured in a truck crash overnight.

Police say the 56-year-old man was driving a dump truck on the work site off Lookout Road at New Lambton Heights just before 10pm when the truck crashed down a gully.

He was trapped under the dump truck for a short time before being freed by the Police Rescue Squad.

He was treated by the Critical Care Medical Team from the Westpac Rescue Helicopter before baing taken by ambulance to the John Hunter Hospital in a serious but stable condition with multiple crush injuries.

SafeWork Inspectors will attend the site this morning to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.   

Truck Crash Closes Duffie Drive At Aberdare

A truck driver has escaped serious injury after his rig overturned at Aberdare early Monday morning.

Newcastle Fire Command says the medium sized rigid truck carrying a generator was travelling along Duffie Drive at about 2.30am when the driver lost control and his truck rolled into a dam.

Fire and Hazmat crews were sent to the crash scene.

A heavy tow truck has since removed the trailer

Duffie Drive remains closed to traffic - a heavy lift crane has just arrived to retrieve the prime mover.

Truck Crash Closes Pacific Highway Northbound At Nabiac

Motorists heading north on the Pacific Highway are being advised of a serious truck crash at Nabiac south of Taree.

The crash involving three B-Doubles happened just before 3.30am on Thursday, blocking the northbound lanes.

One of the drivers remains trapped and emergency services are working to free him.

Diversions are in place however B-Double drivers will have to park their vehicles or delay their journey.

The highway is expected to remain closed for some time.

Truck Driver Injured In Crash At Muswellbrook

A truck driver has been taken to hospital after crashing his rig at Muswellbrook early Wednesday morning.

A semi-trailer loaded with general goods left the New England Highway at Bell Street near the Muswellbrook Golf Course at about 3.30am and slammed into a tree.

The driver was trapped for around 90 minutes before being released and taken to hospital with a leg injury.

Southbound traffic on the highway is being diverted via Sydney Street, Denman Road and Thomas Mitchell Drive.

The northbound lanes of the Pacific Highway at Karuah are expected to be closed for several hours following a truck crash.

A semi-trailer believed to be loaded with timber lost control and crashed onto it's side just south of Tarean Road at about 11.50pm on Sunday.

The 51-year-old male driver managed to escape unharmed.

A contra flow has been set up in the southbound lanes.

Police say the northbound lanes of the highway are expected to remain closed until at least mid morning while salvage crews work to get the truck back on its wheels.

UPDATE! Multiple Truck Crash And Fire Closes M1 Southbound At Wyong

Two road workers have been injured after a semi-trailer crashed into two stationary work vehicles north of Kangy Angy.

Police say a southbound semi-trailer crashed through a work zone at about 3.45am on Tuesday, hitting a two stationary truck which impacted two workmen.

They suffered serious injures and have been taken to hospital for treatment  - one is in a serious condition, the other is stable.

The semi-trailer burst into flames, however the driver was able to free himself unharmed - he's been taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

A multiple truck crash has closed the southbound lanes of the M1 Pacific Motorway at Wyong.

Three trucks crashed at the Alison Road turnoff at about 3.45am on Tuesday.

Newcastle Fire Command says one of the trucks, a B-Double has gone up in flames.

Numerous emergency services are at the scene.

UPDATE! Horse Transport Overturns At Belford: Horses Trapped

A salvage operation to remove a horse transport which overturned on the New England Highway early Tuesday morning has wrapped up and traffic is slowly returning to normal.

Two trucks collided on the highway near Hermitage Road just after 4.30am.

Both male drivers were uninjured and underwent a roadside breath test, returning negative results.

A rescue team managed to extricate the horses from the upturned truck.

One horse was euthanised due to a broken leg, while the other four were assessed by a passing veterinarian.

 Emergency services are at the scene of a truck crash at Belford south of Singleton.

A horse transport vehicle carrying five live horses has overturned on the New England Highway near Hermitage Road just after 4.30am on Tuesday, with the highway closed in both directions.

Three people in the truck have managed to free themselves and have not suffered any serious injuries.

However, the horses are trapped inside the truck and rescue teams have been sent to release them - their condition is not yet known.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

UPDATE ! Truck Crash Closes One Lane Of Buckets Way At Limeburners Creek

 Police say the truck has now been towed from the scene and traffic is back to normal.

 Traffic on the Buckets Ways at Limeburners Creek is down to one lane following a truck crash.

The crash has happened at about 5.45am on Monday, about one kilometre west of Fords Road.

Police say the truck, which is loaded with steel, was attempting a three-point-turn in wet conditions when the rig slipped backwards down an embankment.

The 36-year-old male driver from Newcastle wasn't injured.

Police say an extended operation will be required to unload the truck and drag it back up to the road.

Truck Driver Injured In Fiery Crash At Coolongolook

 A truck driver has been taken to hospital after a fiery crash on the Pacific Highway at Coolongolook overnight.

Police say a car carrier loaded with new utilities crashed through guard rails and the side of a concrete  bridge about 1 kilometre south of the township just before 9.30pm on Tuesday.

The truck and all the vehicles have been destroyed after the car carrier burst into flames.

The 28-year-old male driver from Windsor in Queensland was been taken to Manning Base Hospital with a fracture to his lower right leg after escaping from the cabin. He's told police he noticed flames coming from under the engine hood immediately before the crash.

One southbound lane of the highway remains closed with a salvage operation to get under way later on Wednesday.

Truck Crash Causing Delays on Hunter Expressway

Motorists are now able to travel on the Hunter Expressway at Buchanan following a truck crash near John Renshaw Drive.

A contra flow is in place, with motorists using the eastbound carriageway to travel past the crash in both directions.

The diversion via the M1 Pacific Motorway and John Renshaw Drive has been lifted.

A southbound semi-trailer truck left the expressway and crashed just after 7 o'clock, spilling its load across the motorway.

Firefighters arrived on the scene to find the truck had lost its trailer and rolled down an embankment, injuring the driver and spilling the contents of the truck across the road.

It's understood the 55-year-old male truck driver suffered severe chest and head injuries and was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition. 

The crash detached the diesel tank, which resulted fuel leaking in a nearby water catchment.

Hazardous materials crews from Rutherford and Newcastle Fire Stations arrived on scene to contain the diesel spill and are currently working with the NSW Police, NSW SES and the NSW Rural Fire Service to render to area safe.

The clean-up operation is continuing and there's a reduced speed limit, so motorists should slow down, exercise caution and follow the direction of emergency services and traffic crews on site.

Motorists should also allow extra travel time as traffic in the area is heavy.
