Man Faces Court Accused Of Hit And Run At Cardiff

A man has been refused bail over an alleged assault and hit-and-run at Cardiff.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Main Road and Harrison Street just before 1.30am on Friday where they found a 36-year-old man lying injured on the roadway outside the Iron Horse Inn.

He's still recovering in the John Hunter Hospital.

Following inquiries, police located a vehicle on Devon Street at Wallsend and arrested a 24-year-old man.

He's been charged with attempted murder, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and traffic offences,

BREAKING! Police Investigate Fatal Hit And Run At Harpers Hill

The New England Highway has been reopened at Harpers Hill near Greta following a fatal hit and run overnight.

Police say a 37-year-old man from Singleton Heights was walking along the highway at about 9.30pm on Wednesday when he was struck by a car and died at the scene.

The driver of the car did not stop after the incident.

Police have spoken to witnesses and crash investigators have conducted a thorough examination of the scene.

Police are appealing for the driver to contact Maitland Police Station.

Police Searching for Driver in Hit and Run Incident at Mayfield West

Police are appealing for information as part of an investigations into a hit and run incident in Mayfield West on Wednesday.

A red Holden Commodore travelling between Sandgate and Mayfield West crashed into another vehicle near the intersection of Industrial Drive and Steel River Boulevard, Mayfield West between 4:40pm and 5:00pm.

The male driver of the Red Holden Commodore ran from the scene without rendering assistance to the other driver or exchanging details, he was last seen running towards Stevenson Park, Mayfield.

Anyone with dashcam or other footage of the incident or with any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers or Waratah Police Station.

Residents of the area surrounding Stevenson Park with CCTV footage, are being asked to review the footage for the male running from the scene.

Former Police Minister's Father Under Investigation Over Fatal Hit And Run Near Maitland

The father of former Police Minister, Troy Grant has been charged with drink driving and is under investigation over a fatal hit and run near Maitland.

News Limited reports Ken Grant was pulled over following a short low-speed pursuit at Lorn on Saturday night.

It's alleged the 72-year-old was seen driving erratically and returned a blood alcohol reading of point 108.

He's been charged with mid-range drink driving and is also being questioned over the death of a 62-year-old man who was knocked down and killed at nearby Bolwarra a short time earlier.

UPDATE! Police Seek Help Over Hit And Run At San Remo

Following an intensive media appeal, a 43-year-old woman attended Wyong Police Station this morning.

The woman has been arrested and is expected to be interviewed by detectives.


Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash continue.

EARLIER:

Police are appealing for public help after a man was killed in a hit and run incident in southern Lake Macquarie.

It's believed the 41-year-old was walking along Scenic Drive at San Remo between 11.00pm and 11.30pm on Saturday when he was hit by a car - his body was discovered in bushland nearby yesterday afternoon.

The victim was wearing blue jeans and a khaki coloured hoodie.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have dashcam footage to contact the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit on 8882 1458.

Cyclist Injured in Hit and Run, Tighes Hill

A cyclist has suffered multiple fractures after being clipped by a car at Tighes Hill yesterday afternoon.

Around 4:40pm, the 41-year-old cyclist was riding down Maitland Road when he was hit by a car whose driver, a 36-year-old Raymond Terrace man, failed to stop.

The driver continued down Maitland Road for about a kilometre before colliding with a parked car near the Church Street intersection.

Newcastle Police say the man has undergone mandatory blood and urine testing and has been charged with dangerous driving, while the cyclist is now recovering in the John Hunter Hospital.

Update: Cyclist Critical After Hit-And-Run At Seaham

The teenage cyclist knocked down in a hit and run at Seaham last weekend is now listed in a stable condition.

The 17-year-old was hit from behind by a 4-wheel-drive while riding along Cross Street at about 1.00am on Saturday, leaving him with serious head injuries.

Police have now issued a more detailed description of the vehicle involved.

They're looking for a 2007 to 2012 dark coloured Mistubishi Outlander which may have front-end damage.

EARLIER:

Police are trying to track down the driver of a dark-coloured four-wheel-drive involved in a hit-and-run at Seaham.

A 17-year-old cyclist was riding with two others on Cross Street at about 1.00am last Saturday morning when he was hit from behind by the vehicle.

He was taken to Maitland Hospital with serious head injuries and was transferred to the John Hunter Hospital remains in a critical condition.

Police Ramp Up Hunt For Driver Involved In Hit And Run At Mayfield West

Police are stepping up efforts to catch the driver responsible for a fatal hit and run incident at Mayfield West last year.

91-year-old Bernie Farrell died in hospital three days after being knocked down by car on Maitland  Road on November 24 as he was walking to get a hair cut.

Strike force Petro has been established to investigate the incident.

Meanwhile, Mr Farrell's daughter is pleading for the driver to do the right thing and come forward.
