Three men have been charged for their alleged involvement in an armed robbery at Hamilton North Bowling Club, which police accuse was an inside job.
The Telegraph reports former Secretary Manager Phil Pereira with club Functions Manager Jamie Lee and John Tutt, allegedly plotted an early morning robbery on December 30 last year.
Police were told two men, allegedly carrying knives and dressed in black, entered the club at about 4am and stole wads of cash. 44-year-old Lee was treated for injuries and taken to hospital, but it's alleged by Strike Force Rummage investigators he was part of the plot.
Mr Pereira spoke to news cameras that night to say he hoped the victim was ok.
The Secretary Manager's fronted Newcastle Local Court. He was granted bail.
The alleged false victim will front court in March.
