A search and rescue operation will resume this morning for a man feared dead in a freak accident involving tangled netting off the coast of Newcastle.
It's understood he was involved in a fishing competition and disappeared after falling overboard about 55 kms off the coast
Search and rescue teams mobilised the Port Stephens Marine Rescue Base at about 2.00pm on Sunday before mounting a multi-agency search including the Toll and Westpac Lifesaver Rescue helicopters.
