 BY IAN CROUCH

A man's been charged with drugs, driving and weapons offences after a BMW reversed into an officer during a pursuit near Maitland.

The policeman was taken to Maitland Hospital with a leg injury.

The pursuit began just after 11.30am on Wednesday when police tried to stop the car on Lawes Street, Maitland as part of an ongoing drug supply investigation.

It ended when road spikes were deployed at Chisholm and a 40-year-old man ran off but was arrested in nearby bushland after a short struggle where a tazer was deployed.

He's facing Maitland Court today on a raft of traffic, assault police and weapons charges as well as more than 50 drug supply offences.
