A man is in a serious condition in hospital after an argument turned violent at a Lake Macquarie hotel overnight.
Police say two men, who are known to each other, got into an altercation at about midnight just on closing time at the Warners Bay Hotel.
It's alleged a 46-year-old man suffered horrific head injuries when he was stomped on during the fight - he's been taken by ambulance to the John Hunter Hospital.
Police say a third man attempted to intervene.
Following inquiries, police arrested a 23-year-old man at Charlestown.
He's been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault and refused bail to face court today (Thursday 21 April, 2024).
