COVID-19 Update 11.00am Sunday 8 August 2021

 NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has provided an update on the latest COVID-19 cases.

Up until 8.00pm on Saturday 7 August there were 95,480 tests conducted.

Up until 8.00pm on Saturday there were 262 new cases of COVID-19, of which at least 50 were infectious in the community.

As at 11.35am on Sunday, there have been 7 new cases reported until 8pm overnight in the Hunter New England Health District, 6 in the Hunter and 1 in Armidale, taking the number of confirmed cases to 20 across the entire Hunter New England Health District.

There has been one death - a woman in her 80's who was not vaccinated has died in a Summer Hill Nursing Home in Sydney.

Meanwhile, Lake Macqaurie Police have advised the Gateshead testing centre on the Pacific Highway at Harold Knight Oval is almost empty, so people stuck in queues at McDonald Jones Stadium can go there for testing.

Appointments are not necessary and the centre closes at 3.00pm.
