Two men have died following a horrific car and truck crash at Ferodale this morning.
Just after 11:30, emergency services were called to the collision at the intersection of Medowie Road and the Pacific Highway.
Paramedics say it appears the truck collided with the side of the sedan.
Both occupants of the car died at the scene.
Police say the truck driver was uninjured but has been taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.
Officers from Port Stephens-Hunter Police District have established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

The Pacific Highway has reopened to Northbound traffic.
Northbound motorists can move past the crash site under contra-flow conditions in a southbound lane.

The Pacific Highway is now closed in both directions and diversions are in place.
Southbound traffic is being diverted into Medowie Road and Richardson Road to return to the Pacific Highway.
Northbound traffic is being diverted off the highway at Raymond Terrace, with multiple diversions in place depending on destination.
Northbound diversions include Richardson Road, Adelaide Street and Seaham Road to Seaham; Warren Street, Dixon Street and Clarence Town Road to Clarence Town and Limeburners Creek Road and The Bucketts Way to return to the highway at Twelve Mile Creek.
