Police are investigating a home invasion at Jesmond.
Two men forced their way through the front door of a home on Heaton Street just before 11pm on Tuesday and became involved in a physical altercation with a 26-year-old man.
He was taken to the John Hunter Hospital for treatment of head injuries.
Police say the offenders took a number of items from the home before running off.
Early indications suggest it was a targeted attack.
