A woman is in a serious but stable condition after a vicious assault in her home at Singleton.
The 42-year-old answered a knock to the front door of her Harriet Street home at about 9 o'clock last night and was confronted by a woman she knows and a man.
Police say the pair entered the house and punched and kicked the resident before leaving.
The woman suffered fractures to the eye socket, cheek bone and nose in the attack.
She's now recovering in the John Hunter Hospital.
