Investigations continue after child approached in Newcastle

BY JESSICA ROUSE

Police have released a description of a man who approached a young boy at Waratah this week.

At around 2:45pm on Monday, the 10-year-old boy was waiting for his bus on High Street when a man stood close by him and offered him a lift to a nearby car.

The boy declined and ran back to his school where he advised staff of what had happened.

Police were alerted on Tuesday and would like to speak with the man who may be able to assist them with their inquiries.

The man is described as being Caucasian with a skinny build, 20 to 30 years old, and about 178cm tall with facial stubble.

Police also say he was last seen wearing a black leather jacket, aqua coloured shirt, blue jeans and black shoes and was carrying a black satchel.

Anyone with any information are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
