Man Charged Over Alleged Sexual Assault of 9-Year-Old Girl in Newcastle

A man will appear in court on Wednesday charged over the alleged sexual assault of a young girl in Newcastle two years ago.

In June 2020, detectives commenced an investigation following reports a young girl had been sexually abused by a man known to her.

Following inquiries, investigators arrested a 41-year-old man at Campbelltown Police Station just after 5pm on Tuesday.

He was charged with one count of sexual intercourse with a child under age of 10.

Police allege the man sexually assaulted the girl – then aged nine – while staying in the Newcastle area in 2018.

The man was refused bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court on Wednesday.

Hunter Man Charged With 21 Child Abuse Offences

A man is due to face court today charged with 21 child abuse offences, over alleged online child exploitation in the Hunter.

In September 2019, detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crime Squad’s Child Exploitation Internet Unit (CEIU) began engaging online with a man from the Hunter. 

Police allege the man believed he was speaking with the 37-year-old mother of a nine-year-old girl and engaged in sexually explicit conversations about acts he wished to perform on the child.

It is also alleged the man believed he was speaking with a 14-year-old girl and engaged in conversations about sex acts he wished to perform on the teenager.

Following extensive investigations, strike force detectives arrested the 34-year-old man at a Hunter home just after 11am on Thursday 30th April.

Shortly after the arrest, a search warrant was executed at the home, where detectives seized a mobile phone and electronic storage devices.

The man was taken to Muswellbrook Police Station and charged with 21 offences including;
  • use carriage service to groom under 16 years for sex,
  • use carriage service transmit/publish/promote child abuse (x19),
  • possess child abuse material.
He has been refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court on Friday 1st May 2020.

Police Allegedly Seize Child Abuse Material from Wangi Wangi Home

A man will appear in court today charged over the alleged possession of child abuse material seized by police at a Wangi Wangi home on Thursday. 

Following an investigation, detectives from the Lake Macquarie Police District executed a search warrant at the home, allegedly seizing a number of electronic devices containing child abuse material. 

A 46-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Toronto Police Station.

He was charged with using a carriage service to access child abuse material, possessing child abuse material using a carriage service, and possessing child abuse material.

The man has been refused bail to appear at Toronto Local Court on Friday the 14th of February

Respite Carer Charged Over Alleged Indecent Assault of Two Children

A respite carer has been charged over the alleged indecent assault of two children near Newcastle.

In October 2018, detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation, following reports two young girls, aged 6 and 11, had been indecently assaulted by a man on several occasions while they were in his care. 

Police arrested a  69-year-old man at a Newcastle home on Wednesday just before 1pm. 

He was taken to Waratah Police Station and charged with six counts of indecent assault of persons under 16 years of age.

The man has been refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court on Thursday the 13th of February 2020.

Man Faces Court Over Alleged Sexual Abuse of Five-year-old girl in the Hunter



A man will re-appear in court today charged over the alleged sexual abuse of a five-year-old girl in the Hunter region.

In August 2019, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation following reports a five-year-old girl had been sexually abused by a man known to her.

Following extensive investigations, a 45-year-old man was arrested at a home at Cooranbong about 10.30am on Thursday 10 October 2019.

The man was taken to Toronto Police Station and charged with intentionally carry out sexual act with child under 10 years, intentional incite child under 10 years to do sexual act to them, and intentionally sexually touch child under 10 years.

The man appeared at Toronto Local Court last Thursday, where he was formally refused bail to re-appear at the same court today (Tuesday 15 October 2019).

The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
