Cache Of 3D Printed Firearm Parts Discovered At Barnsley

Strike Force detectives investigating the manufacture of firearms have uncovered a toolbox filled with 3D-printed firearm parts at a Lake Macquarie property.

Following inquires, detectives from Strike Force Leeville along with Hunter Valley Police searched a property at Barnsley on Tuesday, finding the toolbox in the garage containing two rifles and numerous 3D printed firearm parts.

A 59-year-old man at the property was spoken to and the items have been seized for forensic examination.

Police are urging anyone with information on the ownership or origins of the guns to contact Crime Stoppers.

Crews Called To Major Diesel Spill At Lake Macquarie

Firefighters and council crews are working to clean up a major diesel spill stretching over several Lake Macquarie suburbs.

Newcastle Fire Command says they were alerted to the spill at about 6.30 this morning, which stretches through Barnsley, West Wallsend, and Holmesville for 6kms.

Fire crews are on scene at Northville Drive at Barnsley and Withers Street at Holmesville where large pools of the fuel have been found.

The source of the diesel leak is understood to be a bus.

Council crews are using sand and a street sweeper to  clean up the rest of the spill.

Barnsley's brand new Weir Bridge open to traffic

The Weir Bridge at Barnsley has finally opened for traffic, after the original single-lane crossing was closed early last year.

Lake Macquarie Council cut the ribbon on the structure on Friday morning.

The new $8.6 million bridge is dual-lane, and considered safer and faster than the previous option.

The Weir Road was also realigned to improve road safety, and a three metre-wide shared pathway was implemented on the bridge's northern side.

Teen To Face Court Over Alleged Home Invasion At Barnsley

 A teenager is due to face the children's court next month of an alleged home invasion at Barnsley.

Police say the 17-year-old and an other male were at a house party in Codrington Street on Saturday night but left after getting into an altercation with a 17-year-old male occupant.

It's alleged the pair returned to the house on two occasions and assaulted the young male before fleeing in a vehicle.

Following inquiries, a 17-year-old boy was arrested at a home in Edgeworth at about 5.15pm on Sunday.

He's been charged with aggravated enter dwelling with intent in company and aggravated break and enter with intent and granted conditional bail.

Investigations continue.

Barnsley Fire Victim Named

A 23-year-old man who died in a house fire at Barnsley is being remembered as a good family man who would give the shirt off his back if you needed it.

The body of Brad Heafey was found in the Macquarie Street home early yesterday morning by firefighters.

His two sons aged four and two and their mother also lived in the house but weren't home when the fire out.

Police say the cause of the fire has not yet been determined but is not being treated as suspicious.

Police Investigate Fatal House Fire At Barnsley

A person has died in a devastating house fire at Barnsley overnight.

Fire crews from Holmesville, Cardiff and Teralba were called to the hardiplank and tile home on Macquarie Street at about 11.15pm on Monday to find the property fully involved in fire.

Firefighters discovered the body of a person, believed to be a resident of the home, at the rear of the premises just after midnight.

The fire was fully extinguished just before 1.00am but not before the home was destroyed.

Police have set up a crime scene as investigations continue.

Police say the 23-year-old man who lives at the home is yet to be accounted for.
