Mercy Services Slammed for Singleton Closure

 BY PETER HYSLOP

Mercy Services have notified residents of their Singleton aged care facility to leave their homes within fourteen days.

It comes after the company released a warning letter in October 2024 saying they would be closing facilities in the first quarter of 2025.

Hunter MP Dan Repacholi says it's poor planning.

"The Aged Care Act is clear, the facility must stay open until every resident has been properly rehomed in a place they choose," he said.

"Mercy is both ignoring the law and basic human decency with doing this. To force people into facilities that they don't want to go to, away from their family and friends, that is just utterly disgusting," he said.
