Elderly Man Arrested For Drink Driving After Crash At Eagleton

 BY IAN CROUCH

An elderly man is due to face court next month following a crash at Eagleton overnight.

Police were alerted to a red hatchback heading south on the wrong side the Pacific Highway at Nerong just before midnight on Tuesday.

Police say a short time later, the car was involved in a low speed crash into the rear of a Transport for NSW Safety bump truck on the highway at Eagleton.

They found an 88-year-old man from Taree still sitting in the drivers seat when they arrived - he was not injured.

A roadside breath test returned a positive reading and he was arrested and taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station, where it's alleged he returned a low range blood alcohol reading.

He's due to face Raymond Terrace Court on December 11.
