BREAKING! Teen Arrested At North Lambton After Pursuit In His Mother's Car

A 17-year-old boy is due to front the Children's Court today (Thursday 14 August, 2025) accused of leading police on a pursuit through Newcastle's western suburbs overnight in his mother's car.

Police say a routine patrol spotted a Hyundai Excel without number plates on Thomas Street at Wallsend just after 1.00am and gave chase when the driver refused to stop.

The car went down a dead end on Allowah Street at North Lambton where three occupants got out and ran off.

The driver, a 17-year-old boy, was arrested a short time later.

Two Teens To Front Court Over Attempted Car Jacking At Speers Point

Two boys aged 15 and 16 are due to front Children's Court later this month accused of an attempted car jacking at Speers Point.

A young family of four were in their car at Speers Point Park on Saturday when they were approached by two males armed with knives - it's alleged the pair tried to drag the parents in their 30's through the driver's side and passenger windows of the car.

The man and woman bravely fought off the attackers who fled with the car keys.

Following inquiries, a 16-year-old boy was arrested Toronto Police Station - he's been charged with aggravated robbery whilst armed with an offensive weapon

A second teen was arrested after a search of his home in Park Road, Speers Point yesterday.

During the search, police found, and seized:

- Two knives;

- Balaclavas;

- Clothes and;

- A backpack.

A 15-year-old boy was arrested and taken to Toronto Police Station where he was charged with aggravated robbery armed with an offensive weapon.

Both boys will appear before a Children’s Court on Monday 25 September 2017.

Teen Arrested After High Speed Pursuit Through Lake Macquarie

A teenager is due to face Children's Court today accused of leading police on a pursuit through Lake Macquarie last night.

Officers responded to reports of number plates being stolen from cars near the McDonald's Restaurant on Main Road Edgeworth just after 10.30 and noticed a Honda Integra without plates on Neilson Street, but the car sped away when they attempted to pull it over.

They followed the car through Edgeworth, Barnsley, Holmesville and West Wallsend at speeds allegedly reaching 110 kilometres per hour in a 60 zone before it crashed into a gutter.

The driver, a 17-year old male, was arrested after a short foot pursuit and taken to Toronto Police Station.

He was charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously, drive unregistered & uninsured motor vehicle, unaccompanied learner, stealing, goods in custody, and other miscellaneous offences.

The teen was refused bail to appear at a children’s court today.
