Fatal Smash Closes New England Highway at Aberdeen

UPDATE 9am:

The New England Highway has now reopened in both directions after being closed around five kilometres north of Segenhoe Road.

Diversions for light and heavy vehicles travelling between Scone and Muswellbrook have been lifted, while a reduced speed limit of 60 kilometres is in place.

EARLIER:

One person has died and two others have been injured in a 3-car accident at Aberdeen.

Police say the accident happened on the New England Highway about 5 kilometres north of the town at about 11.45pm on Sunday.

A 25-year-old man died at the scene while a man and woman from the others vehicles were airlifted to the John Hunter Hospital.

The highway remains closed in both directions with diversions in place.

Two Men Dead In Separate Car Accidents In The Hunter

Two men have been killed in less than 12 hours in separate car accidents on the Hunter's roads.

A 69-year-old man was driving a white Toyota Prado on Dungog Road at Wallarobba just after 3.30pm on Monday when he lost control and the vehicle rolled.

He suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Earlier, a 46-year-old man died when his Toyota Hilux slammed into a tree at on Tocal Road at Mindaribba just after 6.00am on Monday.

Police are preparing reports for the Coroner.

UPDATE! Police Investigate Fatal Crash At Aberglasslyn

UPDATE 1:40pm:

Police believe the teenager wasn't wearing his helmet at the time of the accident at Aberglasslyn.

The teenager aged between 16 and 19 died when the postie bike he was riding collided with a Nissan four-wheel-drive on Budgeree Drive at around 3am this morning.

Police say the postie bike was registered despite earlier reports, and they're still working to identify him.

Anyone with any information about the incident or anyone who may have seen the teenager before the accident is being urged to come forward and contact police.


EARLIER:

Police are appealing for information after a teenager was killed in a motorcycle crash at Aberglasslyn.

Inspector Peter Vromans says the young man died at the scene when he crashed his postie bike into the rear of a parked Nissan four-wheel-drive on Budgeree Drive just after 3 o'clock this morning.

"We don't know exactly who the rider was at this stage. We are still trying to identify him. He's believed to be in his mid to late teens. He was wearing a black hoodie and black jeans," he said

EARLIER:

Central Hunter Police are investigating a fatal crash at Aberglasslyn.

Emergency services were called to Budgeree Drive just after 3.00am on Friday.

Few details are known at this stage, but it's understood one person died in the crash.

Horror Weekend On The Hunter's Roads

It's been a horror weekend on the Hunter's roads, with two men killed in separate crashes.

A motorcyclist died in a head-on crash with a Toyota Landcruiser on the Golden Highway at Jerrys Plains yesterday afternoon.

A man was killed and another injured when a hatchback collided with a utility on the M1 at West Wallsend early Saturday.

Meanwhile,  a 39-year-old man is due front Newcastle Local Court accused of leaving the scene of a fatal crash at Buladehlah two weeks ago.

He was arrested after police stopped a car he was driving on The Esplanade at Warners Bay on Saturday night.

Man Dies In Single Car Crash At Buchannan

A report is being prepared for the Coroner after a fatal smash near Maitland.

Emergency services were called to John Renshaw Drive, Buchannan at about 4.45pm on Thursday to find a Holden Commodore had crashed into a tree.

The driver, a 25-year-old man who was the sole occupant of the car, died at the scene.

Investigations are continuing and police are urging witnesses to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Crash in Stroud Claims Young Life

Crash investigators are trying to piece together the circumstances leading up to a fatal crash near Stroud last night.

A 25-year-old man from Merewether died when his car slammed into a tree on the Bucketts Way, 3 kilometres south of the town.

Emergency services were alerted of the crash at about 9:45pm last night, but the man died at the scene.

Georgie Wells from Police Headquarters says officers would like to speak to anyone who could provide more information about the crash, and any witnesses are urged to contact Crime-Stoppers on 1800-333-000.
