Jarryd Hayne Taken Into Custody as he Awaits Sentencing over the Sexual Assault of Newcastle Woman in 2018

Former NRL star Jarryd Hayne has been taken into custody after having his bail revoked as he awaits sentencing. 

The former Eels star was earlier this month convicted of sexual assaulting a women in Newcastle on the night of the 2018 NRL Grand Final. 

The court previously heard Hayne was targeted by others in custody because of his public profile.

However, the Director of Public Prosecutions made a Supreme Court detention application to immediately place him behind bars.

Hayne continues to maintain his innocence despite the conviction.

Jarryd Hayne Pleads Not Guilty to Hunter Sexual Assault

Ex-NRL star Jarryd Hayne has pleaded not guilty to raping a woman at a Fletcher home last year.

It's alleged Hayne had sex with a 26-year-old woman without her consent, knowing that she did not consent, on NRL Grand Final night in September last year.

The former Parramatta Eels player was arraigned in Newcastle District Count court on Thursday morning, where he pleaded not guilty to two counts of aggravated sexual assault and inflict actual bodily harm.

The 31-year-old will remain on bail until his trial begins on May 4th, 2020.

Earlier this month, Hayne's bail conditions were altered to allow him to attend a religious education course in Perth.

The trial is expected to take between 5 and 7 days.

Jarryd Hayne To Face Court Over Alleged Sexual Assault In The Hunter

Rugby League player, Jarryd Hayne is due to face Sydney's Burwood Court next month accused of sexually assaulting a woman in the Hunter.

Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation after receiving reports a woman had been sexually assaulted by a man she met on social media.

It's alleged Hayne went to a home in the Hunter region on NRL Grand Final night in September and sexually assaulted a 26-year-old woman.

The woman has reportedly told police she suffered injuries during the sexual encounter and has photographic evidence to back up her claim.

Hayne attended Ryde Police Station yesterday afternoon with his manager, Wayne Beavis for a scheduled meeting with police.

The 30-year-old was subsequently arrested and charged with aggravated sexual assault-inflict actual bodily harm and has been granted strict conditional bail ahead of his court appearance on Monday 10 December, 2018.

The maximum penalty for the charge is 20 years imprisonment.

Hayne is also facing a civil law suit in the United States over claims he raped a woman in December 2015 while playing NFL with the San Francisco 49ers.
