Man facing 42 fraud and weapons charges after Hamilton raid

A man has been charged with fraud and weapons offences following an investigation and a police raid on a Hamilton home.

Officers executed a search warrant at a Dumaresq St home on Thursday in relation to an ongoing fraud investigation. 

Police located and seized several items including a replica pistol, ammunition, an extendable baton, two motorcycles believed to be stolen, cash, methylamphetamine, ecstasy, and cannabis. 

Officers also located and seized false documentation and drivers’ licenses. 

A 34-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Newcastle Police Station. 

He faces 42 offences including obtain benefit by deception, possess identity info to commit indictable offence, unlawfully possess thing resembles Australian driver’s license, make false document, goods in custody, possess unauthorised firearm and possess prohibited weapon without permit. 

He was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court on Friday.
