Boa Constrictor Tries To Kill Owner At Singleton

BY IAN CROUCH

Authorities say a rare Boa Constrictor found on a property at Singleton could be carrying disease and poses a bio-security risk.

The 2-point-3 metre pet snake is set to be put down after being found at a home on Wentworth Avenue yesterday.

Police say the Boa may have eaten a small dog before attempting to constrict the owner as he slept.

The National Parks and Wildlife Service says the snake is a non-native species and will be put down.

The owner is expected to be charged with possessing an exotic species without a licence.
