Man in Serious Condition After Becoming Trapped in Truck Crash Wreckage at Swan Bay

A man has been flown to John Hunter Hospital after his truck rolled at Swan Bay west of Karuah. 

Just after 9:30am on Wednesday morning emergency crews were alerted to the incident on Swan Bay Road.

The 28-year-old male driver was trapped suffering serious injuries and the female passenger was out of the truck suffering minor injuries. 

Emergency Services worked for approximately one hour to free the man from the wreckage, who was then treated for pelvis and arm injuries. 

He was flown to hospital in a serious but stable condition. 

The female passenger of the truck was also transported to the John Hunter Hospital by suffering minor injuries. 

Man flown to John Hunter after Falling off a Ladder in Nelson Bay

The Hunter's Westpac Rescue Helicopter has flown a 60-year-old man to the John Hunter Hospital after he fell from a ladder.

The man fell from a ladder on his property at Corlette in Nelson Bay and suffered head and shoulder injuries.

He's in a stable condition.

Another Confirmed Case of Meningococcal Disease in the Hunter

A man is in a Hunter hospital with a confirmed case of meningococcal disease.

Hunter New England Health reports he's in a stable condition.

It's the eighth reported case of the disease in the Hunter this year.

While it is a rare and potentially life-threatening disease, in most cases early detection and treatment can result in a full recovery. 

The first signs of meningococcal disease may include pain in the legs, cold hands and feet and abnormal skin colour. Later symptoms may include high fever, headache, neck stiffness, dislike of bright lights, nausea and vomiting, a rash of reddish-purple spots or bruises, and drowsiness.

Man crushed by metal frame near Singleton

A 35-year-old man is nursing chest injuries in the John Hunter Hospital after he was crushed by a metal frame near Singleton this morning.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to an abattoir at Whittingham where they found the man had been crushed by a frame which fell off a forklift.

He was flown to hospital and is a stable condition.
