Man Pinned to ground by Tree Branch at Dungog

A man is recovering in the John Hunter Hospital after being pinned to the ground by a 200kg tree branch.

The 54-year-old was reportedly chopping the branch at an Alison property, south east of Dungog yesterday afternoon when it fell on him, pinning him to the ground.

The Hunter's Westpac Rescue Helicopter responded to the incident at about 2:50pm.

He was treated for a serious pelvic injury and possible internal injuries and was flown to hospital.

He remains in a serious but stable condition.

Man Shot in Targeted Attack at Hamilton

A man is recovering in hospital after he was shot in the face in Hamilton overnight.

At about 10:40pm three men, one armed with a firearm, went to a unit on Gordon Avenue where a 37-year-old man lived.

A confrontation allegedly broke out between the group, resulting in the 37-year-old man being shot.

Emergency services were called to the scene, treating the man before taking him to the John Hunter Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Detectives set up a crime scene and are conducting further inquiries.

Early investigations suggest the attack may have been targeted.

A woman survives terrifying fall in Watagan Mountains.

A woman has survived a terrifying fall in the Watagan Mountains over the weekend.

There were reports the woman had been rock climbing when she fell but it's now understood the 46-year-old had been camping in the area and was walking through the bush when she slipped and fell 10 metres suffering serious injuries.

She was stabilised at the scene by paramedics before she was carried out by the Police Rescue Squad to a waiting 4-wheel drive ambulance before she was airlifted by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter in a serious but stable condition to the John Hunter Hospital.
