BREAKING! Police Seize $12,000 in Cash Allegedly Found in Freezer in Belmont South Home

A man will appear in court today after  investigators seized more than $12,000 in cash and two firearms from a Belmont South home on Thursday morning. 

A 38-year-old man was charged after Police from Strike Force Raptor North executed a search warrant of the home just after 2am on Thursday the 5th of March.

During the search, officers seized two pistols, ammunition, electronic equipment and prohibited drugs believed to methylamphetamine.

Police also located $12,380 cash allegedly hidden inside a freezer.

The man allegedly fled from the home before being detained by officers, with assistance from the Dog Unit, a short distance away.

The man and a 23-year-old woman were arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station, before the woman was released pending further inquiries.

The man was charged with two counts of  possessing an unregistered firearm, two counts of possessing ammunition without a holding licence or permit, possessing a  prohibited drug and dealing with property proceeds of crime.

He was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court today.

Man with Kids in His Car Caught with Drugs and Cash on M1

A man faced Newcastle Local Court yesterday after allegedly being caught with drugs and cash in his car on the M1.

Police say at about 12:15pm on Tuesday, a 51-year-old, was driving a sedan north on the M1 at Mandalong when he was stopped for speeding.

Police conducted a roadside drug test on the man which tested positive for cannabis.

Officers then searched the vehicle locating several bags of cannabis totally 2.4kg, 300 capsules of ecstasy (MDMA) and $11,500 in cash which police allege are the proceeds of crime. A knife was also seized.

Two children and another adult were also in the car at the time.

The man was taken to Toronto Police Station where he was charged with possess prohibited drug, deal with property proceeds of crime, knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, possess prohibited drug (x5), supply cannabis (x2), possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, supply prohibited drug, and custody of knife in public place.

He was refused bail.

Raid on Hunter House Uncovers Cannabis Set-up

Police have uncovered a large hydroponic cannabis set-up near Cessnock in the Hunter.

At about 10:30pm on Monday night police stopped a Blue Ford Sedan XR6 on Middle Road heading towards Paxton near Cessnock. Police searched the car and allegedly found an amount of cash.

The 50-year-old driver was arrested and taken to Cessnock Police Station.

Police then applied for a search warrant for a property on Middle Road at Paxton.

During raid on the home police allegedly found a hydroponic setup in the rear shed where nine cannabis plants were being grown.

Police say they also found an indoor setup with more cannabis plants, about $3,000 cash which they say is believed to be the proceeds of crime, cannabis leaf throughout the premises, and small resealable bags believed to have contained around 600 grams of methamphetamine.

Police seized all of the items and interviewed a 46-year-old man believed to be the occupant of the home.

He was handed a court attendance notice for cultivating prohibited plants.

He faces Cessnock Local Court next month.

Drugs, Cash And Weapons Seized During Raid On Broadmeadow Home

A woman is due to face court today after police found drugs, cash and weapons during a raid on a Broadmeadow home.

Officers searched the Young Road property yesterday afternoon and allegedly uncovered more than $15,500 in cash, a small amount of the drug Ice, a taser and tools believed to be stolen.

The 44-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Newcastle City Police Station where she was charged with supply prohibited drug (indictable quantity), possess prohibited drug, goods in custody (x 2), possess prohibited weapon and deal with property proceeds of crime.

She was refused bail and will appear in Newcastle Local Court today (Tuesday 24 October 2017).

More Arrests Made Over Terrifying Abermain Armed Robbery

More charges have been laid over a terrifying hold-up at Abermain Bowling Club earlier this year.

Detectives have charged two more people over the June 19 robbery where a female employee was allegedly tied up with duct tape and $16-thousand dollars was stolen.

The State Crime Command's Robbery and Serious Crime Squad arrested a 33-year-old Weston man and a 29-year-old woman from Pelaw Main yesterday.

The man was refused bail and appears in Maitland Local Court today, the woman was also refused bail and will front Cessnock Local Court today.

They're not the first arrests over the incident, a 35-year-old man was arrested the day after the incident and charged with robbery whilst armed with a dangerous weapon, maliciously damage vehicle by fire, stealing and a number of traffic offences.

He is still before the courts.

Police on the hunt for a man who robbed a taxi driver in Raymond Terrace

Police are still on the hunt for a man who held up a taxi driver in Raymond Terrace last week.

Just after 6pm last Saturday (15th July 2017) a 33-year-old taxi driver collected a man on Maitland Road in Mayfield.

The taxi got as far as Morgan Crescent in Raymond Terrace when the man allegedly pulled out a knife and held it to the taxi driver's throat and demanded cash.

The driver gave the man cash and he then left.

The man was last seen running in a westerly direction along Morgan Street and is described as being aged in his 30s, approximately 177cm tall, of medium build with a beard and a tattoo on the right side of his neck.

Anyone with any information is being urged to contact officers at Raymond Terrace Police Station as investigations continue.

Police want to speak with this man.

Crackdown on bikie gangs in the Hunter continues

The crackdown on bikie gangs in the Hunter has continued with police carrying out raids in Lake Macquarie.

Officers from the Gangs Squad and Strike Force Raptor and Hunter police carried out investigations under Strike Force Batterson in relation to violent acts believed to be related to a dispute between rival gangs.

In all, 15 properties were searched here and in Sydney including four home units in Lake Macquarie.

Police have since seized a number of drugs, ammunition, drugs and cash and several members of the Finks and Nomads bikie gangs have been arrested.

Investigations continue into armed robbery in Lake Macquarie

Police have released CCTV footage of a holdup at the Swansea Workers Club in an effort to find the two men responsible.

Two men with their faces covered threatened staff with a shortened shotgun at the Rawson Street business on January 8, and fled with an amount of cash.

A vehicle was recovered burnt in bushland in the Nords Wharf area, which police believe was used by the men to make their getaway.
