Six Rifles among the items Stolen from AppleTree Flat Home

A number of firearms and ammunition have been stolen from a home in Appletree Flat.

Police say that between Thursday 31st August and Monday 2nd October, someone/s forced entry into a home on Appletree Flat Road and broke into a safe stealing 15 firearms and 200 rounds of ammunition.

Among the firearms stolen are nine shotguns and six rifles.

Officers from Hunter Valley Local Area Command were notified and launched an investigation.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the stolen property is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

BREAKING! Police Find Guns After Pursuit At Maryland

A police pursuit early this morning has ended with the arrest of two men at MARYLAND.

At about 2.30am, officers patrolling Wallsend noticed a Suzuki Vitara being driven erratically and attempted to pull the vehicle over on Minmi Road but it sped away, allegedly reaching speeds of 100 kilometres per hour in a 60 zone.

Inspector Dean Olsen says officers cornered the car a short time later in Warkworth Street at Maryland.

" On searching the vehicle we located two longarms, a rifle and another firearm and we've also located a stash of ammunition as well," he said.

The two men aged 37 and 32 were arrested and are assisting police with their inquiries.
