Man Faces Court After Prohibited Weapons Found At Two Lake Macquarie Homes

A man has faced court on weapons and drugs charges following raids on two Lake Macquarie homes.

Around 7.00am on Thursday, officers went to a home on Newport Road at Cooranbong and spoke with a 55-year-old man.

A search of the property allegedly uncovered a pistol, ammunition and methylamphetamine. Police also seized a vehicle, a motorbike, NSW police insignia, knuckle dusters, a baton and home made weapons.

Officers also went to a home on Bushells Ridge Road at Wyee where it's alleged further prohibited weapons, ammunition, drug paraphernalia and vehicles believed to be stolen, were found.

The man was arrested and taken to Toronto Police Station and charged with nine offences, including possess prohibited weapon, supply prohibited drug, unauthorised handle explosives, possess ammunition without permit and breaching a weapons prohibition order.

He faced Toronto Local Court where he was refused bail to re-appear next Tuesday February 4.

Police expect to lay further charges.

Man Charged Over Train Sex Offences

A man's been charged by police over two sexual offences on public transport, including one in the Hunter.

It's alleged the man performed sexual acts in front of passengers on a train from Wyee to Fassifern last month.

He's also been charged in relation to a similar incident on a train travelling from Hornsby to Strathfield in April.

Operation Artemis detectives arrested the 53-year-old man at a home in Glebe yesterday afternoon, he was refused bail to face court today.

Operation Artemis is an ongoing operation targeting sexual offences on the public transport network.

Armed Thieves Threaten Service Station Attendant

Police are investigating after two men entered a Wyee service station and threatened the attendant with what's believed to a small handgun.

Around 7:30 Tuesday morning, the pair entered the Wyee Road business and demanded cash and cigarettes from the worker before fleeing along nearby Munmorah Street in an early 2000s model silver Toyota Avalon.

The men are described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged between 18-25 with a medium height and build.

Both were wearing dark clothing at the time.

Police want to hear from anyone who may have more information or dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident.

They're also hoping to speak with the driver of the silver sedan.

Police investigating fraud and stealing offences in Lake Macquarie

Police are appealing for assistance following a series of stealing and fraud offences in the Hunter.

Between June and July, police say an organised group have targeted retail and fast food outlets in Charlestown, Swansea, Morisett and Wyee, becoming argumentative with employees to confuse and trick them out of cash.

A silver Holden Commodore bearing Victorian license plates has been seen in the vicinity at the time the offences have been committed and is currently of interest to police.

Anyone with information is urged to come forward.

Charges laid after 19-year-old fatally killed on the Central Coast

The three people arrested yesterday at West Wallsend and Wyee in relation to the alleged shooting of a 19-year-old man on the Central Coast have now been charged.

The 48-year-old man arrested on George Booth Drive at Sea Hampton during a car stop was taken to Toronto Police Station and has been charged with accessory after the fact to murder.

Meanwhile the two others a 24-year-old and a 17-year-old have also been charged, thought to allegedly be his children, the pair have both been charged with murder along with other offences.

All three will face court today.

It comes after emergency services were called to Warner Avenue in Wyong following reports of shoots being fired at 12:30pm on Monday.

A 19-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, but died at the scene. Another man, aged 28, was treated for a grazes to his hand and shoulder at the scene.

Calls for more action on Rutley's Road following another fatality

Following the latest fatality along Rutley's road in Mannering Park, Swansea MP Yasmin Catley has called for more to be done to improve safety.

A 37 year old Wyee Point man became the third fatality in eight months on the dangerous road after his four-wheel drive collided with a truck.

It is also the ninth life lost on the road in as many years.

The road stretches for nine kilometres from Doyalson to Wyee and is split between Lake Macquarie City Council and Wyong Shire Council.

Both council's have spent millions of dollars on improving safety along the road, by Ms Catley says it's not working.

"There has been a large sum of money thrown at that road in the last couple of years. Clearly there needs to be more done there's no doubt about that".
