Brawl at Cessnock Gaol

Police and corrective services are investigating a brawl at Cessnock Gaol which has left one inmate in hospital.

The 32-year-old man was standing near the minimum security section when he was allegedly attacked by several prisoners yesterday afternoon.

He's been treated at the John Hunter Hospital for facial and head injuries which required stitches.

Police appealing for information after a brawl last month

Police are appealing for information about two men after a brawl in Merewether earlier this month.

On Saturday 3rd June, two separate groups of men were drinking in the outdoor area of the Kilgour Avenue Club when an argument started, quickly escalating to a physical altercation between a large number of patrons.

Police were called where they found numerous non life-threatening injuries to patrons.

So far two men aged 27 and 22 years have been charged with affray and will appear in Newcastle Local Court at the end of the month.

Inquiries are continuing, and detectives would like to speak to anyone who may have information that could assist with finding the men pictured below.

20 man strong pub brawl in Sandgate

Police are still after two unknown men and several other people involved in a 20 people strong brawl at a hotel in Sandgate Road over the weekend.

Shortly before midnight on Saturday, two men were escorted from the hotel by staff after a verbal altercation.

Several others followed the men outside and a brawl ensued.

Police from Newcastle City Local Area Command attended the scene locating 15 people still in the area.

Many of those involved suffered injuries from minor lacerations to a possible broken jaw.

An 18-year old man was arrested and charged with affray and behaving in an offensive manner.

He has been granted conditional bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court on 19 January 2017.

Investigations are continuing and anyone with any information are urged to contact police or call Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000. 

Police Continue Investigations into Newcastle Brawl

Police have released the images of five men who they believe will be able to assist them in investigations being made into a brawl in Newcastle last month.

Emergency services were called to an argument which had broken out outside a Darby Street premises just before 10:30pm on Saturday 8th October 2016.

A sergeant and senior constable were assaulted during the incident.

Police arrested four men, aged 18, 21, 22 and 23 at the scene and charged with numerous offences.

The men in their 20s are due to face Newcastle Local Court on 8th December 2016 while the 18-year-old has already faced court.
