Missing Telarah Teen Spotted In Hamilton

Police are asking for our help to find a teenager who's been missing from Telarah for almost a month.

15-year-old Callum Schonewille was last seen on February 18 but police believe he may have been at a chemist in Beaumont Street, Hamilton at about 8.45am on Monday 9 March.

Police hold concerns for his welfare due to his age.

Callum is described as being of Caucasian appearance, abut 160cm tall with a slim build, light brown hair and a blonde rats tail and mullet.

He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, shorts, slides, socks and black jumper with a TUPAC logo and carrying a black satchel bag. 

Callum is believed to frequent the Telarah, Maitland, Edgeworth, Charlestown, Windale and Campsie areas. 

Anyone with information is urged to contract Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Police Seek Help To Find Missing Telarah Teenager

Police are asking for our help to find a teenage girl who's gone missing from Telarah.

15-year-old Jada Hill was last seen on Saturday August 30 at about 3.00am and police and family hold concerns for her welfare due to her age.

Jada's described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 165cm tall with a thin build and long red hair.

She was last seen wearing black track pants and a black school jumper.

Jada is known to frequent the Newcastle, Maitland, Hornsby and Sydney areas.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

BREAKING! Missing Port Stephens Girls Found Safe And Well At Telarah

Two young girls reported missing from the Port Stephens area earlier this week have been found safe and well overnight.

12-year-old Ellah White was last seen leaving Tomaree High School on Tuesday morning and 13-year-old Sophie Fletcher hadn't been seen since leaving a Nelson Bay home on Monday morning.

Police say they received a call from staff at Telarah Railway Station at about 11 o'clock on Wednesday night reporting both girls were together on the platform.

They were picked up a short time later and safely returned to their families.

Family Lose Everything In Telarah House Fire

A young family is counting the cost of a devastating house fire at Telarah.

Around 30 firefighters from six stations were called to the single level home on Raymond Street at about 4.30pm on Tuesday to find the house up in flames.

A mother and her five children managed to escape without injury, while twelve people from neighbouring homes were also evacuated.

It took crews more than 3 hours to fully extinguish and mop up the fire which destroyed the home.

The cause is not known at this stage, but the fire is not being treated as suspicious.

Second Man Arrested Over Alleged Police Assault At Telarah

A second man wanted over the alleged assault of three police officers at Telarah has been arrested.

A sergeant pulled over a Ford hatchback on Sunday night in Trevor Street and was allegedly punched in the face by the 20-year-old driver and was treated in hospital for a fractured eye socket.

The man fled with a male passenger and was arrested a short time later by two officers who were also allegedly punched.

Following further inquiries, a 24-year-old man was arrested at a home on Ada Street at Telarah just after 3pm on Monday.

He's been refused bail to face Maitland Local Court today (Tuesday 23 June, 2020) charged with assault police officer in execution of duty causing actual bodily harm, resist officer in execution of duty and escaping police custody.

Police Officers Allegedly Assaulted After Vehicle Stop At Telarah

Three police officers have been assaulted, one seriously after a vehicle stop at Telarah overnight.

Police say patrolling Officers spotted a silver Ford hatchback being driven in a dangerous manner on Trevor Street just after 8.30pm on Sunday and stopped the car.

It's alleged the male driver began acting erratically, pushing a Sergeant in the chest before a second man got between them with the driver then punching the officer in the face, suffering a fractured eye socket.

Both men then ran off.

The driver was arrested after a scuffle with two officers who were also punched.

The 20-year-old is due to face Maitland Court today (Monday 22 June, 2020) on assault and drink driving charges.

The other man remains on the run.

Two female passengers in the car are assisting police with inquiries.

The Sergeant was taken to the John Hunter Hospital for treatment of a fractured eye socket. The other officers were treated for minor laceration and soft tissue damage at Maitland Hospital. All have since been released.

Police Pursuit Ends With Car Crashing Into House At Telarah

A man and woman in their 20's remain under police guard in the John Hunter Hospital after their car overturned and crashed into a house at Telarah.

Patrolling police spotted a speeding Holden Commodore on the New England Highway at about 2.20pm on Thursday and began following the car when it failed to stop,.

The vehicle lost control in Brooks Street, overturned and crashed into the front lounge room of a house where a baby and two adults had been only moments earlier.

Police say the male driver managed to free himself but was arrested a short distance away, while his female passenger had to be cut free.

The driver suffered suspected fractures while the female passenger suffered internal injuries.


Police are urging witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Arson Suspected In Telarah House Fire

It's believed arsonists are responsible for a fire which guttered a home at Telarah overnight.

Four crews from Maitland, Rutherford and East Maitland were called to the vacant Housing NSW home on Capper Street at 10.40pm on Tuesday to find the single level dwelling well alight.

They took about 2 hours to extinguish and mop up the blaze.

It's believed the home had been earmarked for demolition after it was set on fire about 6 months ago.
