Fire crews have been called to an electric vehicle fire at Allandale.
Newcastle Fire Command says they received 22 Triple Zero calls to the Tesler on fire on the Hunter Expressway near Lovedale Road just before 5.00am on Monday.
An RFS crew and a Fire and Rescue team from Branxton are at the scene
The incident is impacting southbound traffic.
The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.

Diversions are in place on Nelson Bay Road at Williamtown where a car has burst into flames after crashing into a power pole.
RFS crews were called to the scene just south of Cabbage Tree Road at about 4.30am on Wednesday to find the car well alight and the power pole also on fire.
The force of the crash has split the power pole at the base and Ausgrid has also been alerted.
Crews say the driver of the car was not with the vehicle when they arrived.
Police are also at the scene.

Firefighters have managed to contain a fire which broke out at a wrecking yard at Kooragang this morning.
Crews responded to reports a large amount of smoke could be seen coming out of a building on Sandpiper Close just after 11:00am on Wednesday the 2nd of August, and arrived to find the structure on fire.
It's understood they had to enter the building from the ground and found batteries and car parts alight inside.
One man was reportedly treated by ambulance paramedics at the scene for smoke inhalation before being transport to hospital.
Crews say there's been no contaminated runoff into the Hunter River.

Newcastle fire crews are currently investigating a car fire which occurred near Merewether Golf Club last night.
The owner of the vehicle was able to locate it via GPS tracking, on King Street at Adamstown.
There's concern over a Moisture Density Meter which is reportedly inside the vehicle, which could have a radioactive source.
Hazardous materials experts have set up a safety zone around the area, and are seeking to find out if the meter is there, and if it has been breached.
Crews have assured the area is stable.

Police are investigating a suspicious car fire at the John Hunter Hospital this morning (Wednesday 12 May, 2021).
A departing Ambulance crew noticed the car ablaze in the Upper Level Car Park opposite the Emergency Department at 3.45am.
Two fire trucks from Lambton attended, taking about half an hour to put out the flames, with crews wearing breathing apparatus smothering the fire with foam.
They managed to contain the fire to the car and no other vehicles or the car park were damaged.
It's believed the vehicle belongs to a member of staff at the hospital.

A driver has been lucky to escape with only minor injuries after an early morning crash at Merriwa.
Emergency services were called to King George V Avenue just before 5 o'clock on Thursday morning where the car had left the road, crashing through a fence and into a tree in the backyard of a home.
Newcastle Fire Command says the vehicle briefly caught on the fire, with witnesses isolating the battery and crews cooling the vehicle with water.
The driver has been taken to hospital with minor arm and leg injuries.
