Man Crushed Inside Shipping Container, In Industrial Accident In Hunter Valley

A man has been taken to hospital, after being crushed by metal plates during an industrial accident in the Hunter Valley

Rescue teams, and seven ambulance crews were called to the industrial estate off Rosedale Close at McDougalls Hill near Singleton at 6.30 on Tuesday morning.

The man in his mid-40's was believed to be working inside a shipping container, when three hundred kilograms of metal plates fell on top him, pinning him underneath.

"Rescue crews initially used a fork lift to support some of the load off his legs, and then used a quick cut saw to cut the side out of the shipping container to free his legs and extricate him from the container," NSW Ambulance said.

He was treated for crush injuries to his lower limbs, fracturing his leg.

He has since been transported to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.

UPDATE: Loving Father Killed in Workplace Accident at Thornton

Investigations are continuing into yesterday's tragic workplace accident at Thornton which claimed the life of a contractor.

Allan Newling, 55-year-old father-of-three died instantly when the amenities block he was unloading from his flatbed truck tipped and fell on him in the yeard of Onsite Rentals in Huntingdal Drive.

The precise circumstances leading up to the tragedy are still not known.

A report is being prepared for the Coroner after a man died in a workplace accident at Thornton.

It's understood the 56-year-old Lake Macquarie man was unloading a portable building from the back of a truck at an industrial estate in Huntingdale Drive at about 8.15 on Wednesday morning when the structure fell on top of him.

The man died at the scene.

Police and SafeWork NSW are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.

It's understood the 56-year-old Lake Macquarie man was unloading a portable building from the back of a truck at an industrial estate in Huntingdale Drive at about 8.15 on Wednesday morning when the structure fell on top of him.

The man died at the scene.

Industrial accident at Bulahelah

Workcover will investigate an industrial accident at Buladelah yesterday where a man sustained a serious leg injury.

A 59-year-old man was working at a sawmill when the machinery fell on him.

The Hunter's Westpac Rescue Helicopter flew a medical team to the site where the man's condition was stabilised.

He was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital and is reported to still be in a stable condition.

Man treated for burns to face and hands in Carrington

A man in his 30s is believed to be in a stable condition after suffering burns in an industrial accident this morning.

Just after 6am, paramedics were called to a business on Everett Street in Carrington where they treated a man for burns to his face and hands.

The man was reportedly splashed with acid from a 12 volt truck battery.

He was taken to John Hunter Hospital.
