Former Hunter Tennis Coach To Face Court Over Alleged Historical Child Sex Abuse Charges

A former tennis coach is due to face court over the alleged historical indecent assault of a young girl in the Hunter.

In June 2017, Hunter Valley detectives began an investigation into alleged offences against a teenager in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

The 57-year-old was issued with a Court Attendance Notice on July 30 this year and is expected to make his first appearance in Maitland Local Court today (Wednesday 9 September, 2020).

Police will allege the man was coaching the girl, then aged between 13 and 17 when he indecently assaulted her on multiple occasions in the East Maitland and Hunter region.

Pair Extradited to Hunter Over Alleged Child Sexual Abuse

A man and woman have been extradited from Queensland over the alleged historical sexual abuse of a child in the Hunter.

In November 2016, Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad detectives began investigating reports a young girl had been sexually abused by a man and woman known to her.

After almost three years of investigations, the 59-year-old man and 36-year-old woman were arrested at North Lakes, near Brisbane, on Thursday before being escorted to New South Wales where they briefly faced Raymond Terrace Local Court on Friday.

The pair is accused of sexually abusing a young girl, aged between 9 and 10 at the time, on several occasions.

It's also alleged the man abused the girl again fourteen months later in January 2016.

The pair are due to face court again on Tuesday.

Former Newcastle Salvation Army Member Charged With Historical Child Sex Offences

A former Lambton Salvation Army member has been charged with historical child sexual abuse.

It follows an investigation by detectives from Strike Force Georgiana.

The 69-year-old was arrested at Newcastle Police Station in April - he's accused of abusing two boys on numerous occasions in the late 1990's when they were aged 10 and 14.

Police say he met the boys through his work with the Salvation Army.

He's been charged with 15 offences including 3 counts of sexual intercourse with a minor and remains in custody ahead of his appearance in Newcastle Local Court today.

Forensic Link Sees Man Arrested Over Historical Child Sex Assault At Cardiff

A man has been charged after being forensically linked to the historic alleged sexual assault of a teenage boy in the Hunter in 2006.

Police allege the man forced the then 15-year-old boy into a cubicle of a public toilet and sexually and indecently assaulted him.

As a result of forensic matching and after further inquiries, police arrested a 58-year-old man at Bathurst.

He's been charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault and has been remanded in custody to face Bathurst Local Court next Tuesday.
