Victoria Police Believe Wanted Man Is In Newcastle

Victoria Police have issued an alert in Newcastle for a man wanted for an aggravated home invasion.

21-year-old Hughie Buckley is wanted on an outstanding warrant and police in Victoria believe he is in the Newcastle area.

He's described as being Caucasian in appearance, about 185cm tall with a slim build and short brown hair.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

Lake Macquarie Man Charged With Murder Over Alleged 40 Year Old Cold Case

A Lake Macquarie man has been charged over an alleged cold case murder.

Back in April this year, police searched a home in Leanda Place Cardiff South and questioned a 65-year-old man over the disappearance of 21-year-old Debra Campbell in Victoria in February 1984.

Yesterday, police arrested the 65-year-old at Cardiff South and charged him with murder.

He faced Belmont Local Court and is due to face court again on Friday where Victorian Police are expected to apply for his extradition.

Miss Campbell was a member of the RAAF and was reported missing when she failed to show up for her shift.

Former Newcastle University Student Among Four Police Officers Killed In Melbourne

It's been revealed a former Newcastle University student is among the four police officers tragically killed when they were hit by a speeding truck in Melbourne on Wednesday.

Born in Gosford, Constable Glen Humphris began his working life as an apprentice carpenter before becoming a personal trainer. He studied exercise and sports science at the university and was working in Newcastle before moving to Melbourne with his partner, Todd to join the police force in 2019.

Victoria Police say Glen performed extremely well at the academy and narrowly missed out on his squad's highest academic achievement award, while his squad mates say he had a great sense of community and genuine empathy for everyone - victim and offender alike.
