Truck Loaded With E-Bikes And Batteries Destroyed By Fire At Nerong

Fire crews have worked through the night to extinguish a truck fire at Nerong north of Newcastle.

Newcastle Fire Command says a B-Double with a mixed load which included E-bikes and batteries caught fire in the northbound lanes of the Pacific Highway about 2 kilometres south of the town just after midnight on Tuesday 9 December 2025.

Fire and Rescue crews from Tea Gardens along with a bulk water tanker from Toronto and a Hazmat team from Newcastle were sent to the blaze.

It's taken 5 hours to completely extinguish the fire and make the area safe.

The truck driver wasn't injured and a salvage operation is getting under way.

 

Truck Fire Closes Pacific Highway At Nerong

A truck fire at Nerong has closed the southbound lanes of the Pacific Highway for a couple of hours overnight.

Newcastle Fire Command says just after 11.30pm the driver of a B-Double carrying a load of sugar reported flames coming from underneath the trailer and pulled over just south of the town near Little Nugra Road.

By the time Fire and Rescue and RFS crews arrived, the truck and was engulfed in flames.

They took about two hours to extinguish the fire.

A Hazmat crew from Newcastle has been called in to remove around 800 litres of diesel from the truck.

It's believed the fire started in the truck's brake system.

 

Crews Battle Truck Fire At Freemans Waterhole

Firefighters have been faced with a potentially explosive truck fire at Freemans Waterhole on Tuesday morning

Crews were called the southbound lanes of the Pacific Motorway just past Palmers Road at about 3.45am to find the Prime Mover of a semi-trailer on fire.

The trailer was carrying several drums of flammable liquids including Petroluem Distillate.

Luckily, the driver managed to detach the trailer before the fire could spread.

Crews took about an hour to extinguish the fire and an area of bush beside the motorway which also caught alight.

Hunter Valley Police Appeal For Information About Two Suspicious Truck Fires at Branxton

Hunter Valley Police believe two alleged arson incidents in the region may be linked. 

Three trucks parked on Elderslie Road at Branxton, were allegedly set alight on the evening of Saturday the 22nd October last year. 

Two of the trucks were destroyed and one was significantly damaged.

Additionally, on Thursday the 16th of February this year, a fourth truck was set alight and destroyed at the same location. 

Officers have commenced an investigation into the fires and they are being treated as suspicious. 

They're calling for anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward. 

BREAKING! Truck Fire Closes M1 Pacific Motorway At Morisset

A truck fire has closed the southbound lanes of the the M1 Pacific Motorway at Morisset.

RFS and Fire & Rescue crews have been called to the motorway about 2 kilometres past Mandalaong Road.

It's understood a truck carrying sand and a B-double carrying general goods were involved in a nose-to-tail crash at about 4.00am on Friday and the B-double is fully involved in fire.

Diversions are being put in place.

Semi-Trailer Goes Up In Flames On M1 At Cooranbong

Southbound traffic on the M1 at Cooranbong is back to normal after a truck fire overnight.

An empty semi-trailer caught alight just after 9.30pm on Tuesday, about 2.5km south of the Freemans Drive overpass.

The truck driver managed to escape without injury.

Fire and Rescue and RFS crews took just under an hour to extinguish the fire, which gutted the cabin and the trailer.

A Hazmat crew from Newcastle was brought in to decant diesel from a ruptured fuel tank.

The salvage operation wrapped up just after 4.30am on Wednesday.

Police say it's likely the fire started in the engine bay.

Driver Injured In Truck Crash At Mount White

Motorists heading north on the M1 Pacific Motorway can expect delays as emergency services deal with a truck crash and fire at Mount White.

A semi-trailer loaded with paper ran off the motorway through a guard rail and into the bush just after 1.00am on Wednesday, about 1km south of the weigh station.

The rig burst into flames, with the fire spreading to nearby bushland.

The driver managed to escape but he's been taken to hospital with minor injuries.

One of three northbound lanes are closed as the cleanup and salvage operation gets under way.

BREAKING! Truck Fire Closes Southbound Lanes of M1 at Calga

The southbound lanes of the M1 Pacific Motorway are closed at Calga due to a truck fire.

A truck loaded with scrap metal caught alight at about 4.45am on Monday about 1km from the southbound side of the Mooney Mooney Bridge.

Fire crews are using foam to douse the flames and a heavy hazmat unit is on the way.

Police say the driver has not been injured.

There is heavy southbound traffic on the M1 which is being diverted onto Peats Ridge Road and rejoining the freeway at Calga.

Truck Fire Closes Northbound Lanes of M1 at Freemans Waterhole

A salvage operation is under way after a truck loaded with supermarket groceries went up in flames on the M1 at Freemans Waterhole.

Police say the B-Double was travelling in the northbound lanes just past Freemans Drive when an axle on the trailer caught fire just before 11.00pm on Monday.

The driver managed to escape unharmed as the fire quickly took hold, destroying the trailer and its contents.

The northbound lanes of the M1 are closed with traffic diversions in place on Freemans Drive and Palmers Road.

Crews Called To Truck Fire On Hunter Expressway at Seahampton

Quick work by a passing motorist has prevented a grocery truck fire from spreading to its load at Seahampton.

The rear axle of the semi-trailer caught alight in the westbound lanes of the Hunter Expressway near Seahampton Road at about 4.15am on Friday.

The motorist used a dry chemical extinguisher to quell the flames while fire crews from Holmesville and the RFS arrived to finish dousing the flames and cool the brake system.

One lane of the expressway was closed for a short time but has since been re-opened.

There are major delays for northbound traffic on the M1 Pacific Motorway at Bar Point on the Central Coast due to a truck fire.

A semi-trailer carrying 5000 litres of milk, yogurt and orange juice on pallets caught alight near Jolls Bridge just after 2.30am on Wednesday.

2 of 3 northbound lanes of the freeway are closed.

The fire has caused extensive damage to the trailer.

The driver wasn't injured.

Ten firefighters and a senior officer are at the scene working to contain the runoff and a major salvage operation is due to commence at 6.00am. 

Semi-Trailer Up In Flames On The Pacific Highway At Bulahdelah

Northbound traffic on the Pacific Highway at Bulahdelah is down to one lane after an overnight truck fire.

A semi-trailer loaded with general freight clipped power lines at the roundabout on Bulahdelah Way and Lee Street at about 8 last night which fell onto the rig and caught fire.

Around 40 firefighters from as far away as Cardiff took six-and-a-half hours to extinguish the blaze which destroyed the b-double and its contents.

It's understood the driver escaped injury.

A salvage operation is continuing with traffic down to one lane past the scene at a reduced speed limit of 60 kilometres per hour.

Crews Battle Truck Fire At Twelve Mile Creek

There are delays for northbound traffic on the Pacific Highway at Twelve Mile Creek due to a truck fire.

A semi-trailer caught alight near The Buckets Way just after 4.15 this morning (Monday 29 October).

It's understood the fire started in the braking system - the driver tried to put out the flames with an extinguisher but was unsuccessful.

A Fire & Rescue crew from Raymond Terrace and two RFS units from Medowie were called to the scene.

The fire was extinguished at 20 past 4 but it's understood the empty trailer of the truck has been badly damaged.

Salvage crews are on the way.

Semi-Trailer Erupts In Flames Near Taree

There are delays for southbound traffic heading to Newcastle on the Pacific Highway after a truck caught fire just south of Taree.

The driver of a semi-trailer loaded with frozen goods noticed smoke and flames coming from the rig just before 4.30 this morning and managed to pull over at Godfrey Hill Road, about 4 kilometres south of Taree.

By the time firefighters arrived, the B-Double was engulfed in flames - the driver managed to escaped uninjured.

The southbound lanes of the highway remain open but motorists are advised to expect delays.

Breaking! Truck Rollover And Fire Closes Northbound Lanes Of M1 At Cooranbong

Emergency services have been called to a truck fire on the M1 at Cooranbong.

A refrigerated truck overturned in the northbound lanes under the Freemans Drive Overpass just after 4.30.

The truck then burst into flames which has also started a bushfire next to the motorway.

Police say the driver has managed to escape with only minor injuries.

The northbound lanes of the M1 are blocked with diversions in place at Freemans Drive and Palmers Road.

More than a dozen Fire & Rescue firefighters are at the scene along with the Rural Fire Service.

The northbound lanes of the motorway are expected to be closed for several hours.
