Boy Taken To Hospital After Accident At Susan Gilmore Beach

A young boy has suffered suspected spinal injuries at a Newcastle beach.

Newcastle Fire Command says fire rescue and ambulance crews were called to Susan Gilmore Beach at late on Monday afternoon to reports a 12-year-old boy had struck his head on a sand bar while surfing.

He was extricated from the beach and taken to the John Hunter Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

BREAKING! Woman Rescued From Cliff At Susan Gilmore Beach

The Hunter's Westpac Rescue Helicopter has been called out to a cliff rescue at Susan Gilmore beach this morning.

A woman in her 30's was found on a rock ledge at about 4.30am on Monday.

She was winched to safety and taken to the Mater Hospital by road ambulance suffering exposure.

Newcastle Police are thanking members of the community who helped guide emergency services to the woman's location.
