Cessnock Gaol Escapee Recaptured

Police have recaptured a prisoner who escaped from Cessnock Gaol almost two weeks ago.

18-year-old Jake Nunn escaped from a minimum security section of the gaol on Friday September 21.

Acting on information from the community, officers went to a home in Burnett Street Cessnock yesterday and spotted a man running away.

They chased after him and found the man hiding in a wardrobe in the bedroom of a home in Scott Street.

He's expected to face Maitland Local Court today charged with 8 offences including escaping lawful custody and 2 counts of car stealing and driving while disqualified.

Prisoner Escapes from Cessnock Gaol

A prisoner has escaped from Cessnock Correctional Centre this morning.

Just after 11am, police were informed 18-year-old inmate Jake Nunn had escaped from a minimum security part of the gaol.

Nunn is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 170 centimetres tall, with a thin build, brown hair and brown eyes.

Police believe Nunn may be headed for Kurri Kurri or the Central Coast.

He was last seen wearing prison greens and joggers.

Anyone who sees Nunn should not approach him, but contact Triple Zero (000)  immediately.
